Tom Wysocki
Our President and Senior Consultant, Tom Wysocki, has been active in special hazards fire protection since 1973. Tom is considered an expert in the use of gaseous fire extinguishing agents including carbon dioxide and NFPA 2001 Clean Agents. Wysocki has been active in industrial and marine fire protection, providing consulting, hazard analysis, and safety training for major international companies including auto makers, steel companies, oil companies, utility companies, and aluminum producers.
He is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the flow of gaseous fire extinguishing agents in fire suppression systems. His work predicting the flow of gaseous fire extinguishing agents began in 1973 when he developed the flow calculation methodology which is recognized in NFPA 12A for Halon 1301 and referenced in other NFPA standards. Over the past 50+ years, he has developed agency approved software for inert gases and halocarbon clean agents as well as carbon dioxide and various water and chemical systems.
Tom is a member of several NFPA Technical Committees (TC) including the committees responsible for NFPA 12 Carbon Dioxide Systems, NFPA 12A Halon Systems, NFPA 2001 Clean Agent Systems, and NFPA 75 Protection of Computer Systems. He is past chairman of the NFPA 12A and NFPA 75 technical committees. Wysocki has authored numerous publications including sections of the NFPA Fire Protection Handbook, and received many awards for his contributions to fire safety including the NFPA Special Achievement and the NFPA Committee Service Awards.
He has spearheaded numerous fire and accident investigations related to special hazards systems. Wysocki has qualified as an expert witness in State and Federal courts.
In addition to his ongoing work at Guardian Services, Tom serves as the Technical Director of the Fire Suppression System Association (FSSA), an international association of manufacturers, installers, service organizations, and engineers dedicated to fire protection for special hazards.
